I posted this in a different sub, but wanted to post it here updated. I was hoping to get some feedback on how to push Sedgwick into paying or responding to me about my claim. Also wanted to know when I go back do I still get paid for all the work I missed? Some people have suggested to talk to a lawyer but I’ve missed so much work that now I don’t even know if I should just take the monumental loss while headed back.
Timeline:
April 10, 2026
At approximately 21:50–22:00, I was injured at work after tripping over a step between a trash can and a work van. I did not initially report the injury and completed my shift.
⸻
April 11, 2026
I woke up experiencing pain in both wrists and reported to work. I informed management of the injury. Management asked if I wanted medical attention, and I was transported to the clinic, where I was evaluated and X-rays were taken. I was diagnosed with a right wrist sprain (both wrists were painful), given work restrictions, wrist braces, medication, and advised to begin physical therapy. A follow-up appointment was scheduled for April 13, 2026.
I provided my medical documentation to management and was informed that my department cannot accommodate work restrictions. I was placed on IOD leave until cleared to return to full duty. I was also provided an IOD packet, and management advised they would file the necessary paperwork.

I picked up my prescribed medication and paid out of pocket.
⸻
April 13, 2026
I attended my follow-up appointment. At this time, both wrists were diagnosed as sprained. Continued physical therapy was recommended, and a follow-up appointment was scheduled for April 21, 2026. I also scheduled my physical therapy appointments beginning April 14.
⸻
April 14–18, 2026
I attended physical therapy sessions on April 14, 16, and 18.

April 20, 2026
After not receiving any communication regarding my claim, I contacted Sedgwick multiple times. I was provided information to create an account and was given a claim number, which had not previously been provided to me or included in my medical documentation.
⸻
April 21, 2026
Account created but my claim was not visible in the system. I contacted Sedgwick again and was informed that the report had been filed as a single incident without medical treatment or leave. I clarified that I had been receiving ongoing medical care and was on leave. I was told the issue would be escalated and that I should expect a follow-up call.
I also attended a medical follow-up appointment, where continued pain in my right wrist was noted, and additional physical therapy was recommended.
⸻
April 22–23, 2026
I did not receive a follow-up on the 22nd by Sedgwick so I contacted them on the 23rd. I was repeatedly informed that the claim had been misfiled and a claims adjuster still hasn’t be assigned.
⸻
April 24, 2026
I contacted Sedgwick again due to no updates or communication. At this point, I had been out of work for two weeks, with April 25 marking 13 days since the initial report.
I was advised that my claim had still not been properly processed and that once assigned, an additional three-day waiting period may apply. I expressed concern regarding the delay and lack of guidance throughout the process.
I also reached out to management for assistance; however, they were unable to provide further support. I have documentation of calls and communications available upon request.

Sedgwick contact no progress same responses & will escalate to supervisor for claim adjuster assignment. Please call back Wednesday & then maybe we can escalate with you on the phone.
Contact CA Workers comp help desk advise to do EDD meantime. Sounds doable, fill out online forms, & read clinic must fill out their portion online.
Clinic follow up - finish PT this week, then one more follow up next week, & restrictions lifted. Advise of online form to file for EDD, & they say that can’t. Need physical copy of form (which once order takes up to 10 days to arrive). When last follow up scheduled bring form to finally file.
Still no pay.
