Can opening an LLC or DBA affect future immigration or naturalization if I’m not a U.S. citizen or resident?
I’m originally from Colombia and currently living in the U.S. I have an ITIN but no Social Security number or work permit at the moment. I’m considering opening either an LLC or a DBA for online business activities such as social media, digital products, affiliate marketing, and possibly e-commerce.
I’m mainly trying to understand:
• Whether owning an LLC/DBA could create immigration issues
• Whether paying taxes through a business helps or hurts
• If there are differences between an LLC vs DBA from an immigration perspective
• Whether there are risks if I currently do not have work authorization
