IBR payment doubled after recertification of income
Update: figured it out, it’s because I was on maternity leave that spilled into early 2024 and it affected my income for 2024, and I re-certified income last year (2025) based on my 2024 income with the maternity leave. So even though my job didn’t change and I didn’t get any more income this year, it looks like I make more than I used to and my payment went up. Only 1 year left, should have been done with this December 2026 but no thanks to SAVE… I have a year left.

Did everyone else have their PSLF IBR payment double after recertification this year? Nothing changed for me, I file married separately and claim my child, did the same last year, I made just about the same as I did last year and live in CA with ridiculous cost of living and yet my IBR payment went from $495 to $860. WTF. I’m having a panic attack. I’m on hold now, 1 hr 15 min wait to speak to someone at MOHELA.
