I've started running a little bit, I can now do 5k but I'm slow. In a couple of weeks, my city is organising a big company run event, and my work is participating in the 5K. I signed up, it would be my first race ever, but I feel super self conscious about my running form and speed (I can do 5K just under 35 minutes now, on good days). All the people from my work who will participate are men & super in shape, so every one of them will be much faster than me.
I know I shouldn't care and I know they probably don't care and it's all in my head, but i feel so self-conscious about my speed that I'm just wanting to drop out... And I'm also just stressed about probably arriving when they have already finished 10-15 minutes before and them having to wait for me... Any tips for dealing with this anxiety, or for the race itself?
