How hard and risky is it to cartop a 2x, really?

Would it be easier just to haul it on a small trailer? Trying to figure out if it’s worth it cartopping 1 way about 2 hours drive to arrive early to practice before the big trailer arrives.
And if that goes well, maybe a longer trip.

That’s all really. I thought I was the weird one for having these feelings about this sport, so it was pretty amazing to see rowing written about in this way. Sharing in case you relate to it as well.
