Accident while staying in a hotel
Stayed at a very nice hotel over the weekend with my adult daughter for Mother’s Day. Woke up during the night, knew I had to run to the bathroom, made it to the tiled area and that was it. 3am and I’m quietly trying to clean up the mess and not wake up my daughter. Had to shower, wipe up the floor, use the hotel towels, tried to clean the spot off the fluffy bath mat (no success), got back into bed wearing the hotel bathrobe because my pajamas were a mess too and discovered the sheets had gotten dirty too.
Now my daughter is very empathetic about my disease, but who wants to deal with another person’s shit? She also is a bit of a neat freak and she immediately said it smells in the bathroom. Did you have an accident? She then soaks the bath mat and towels in the tub, so now we have soaking wet things to deal with.
I just felt demoralized and humiliated. I’ve had Crohn’s for 50 years. This is probably the third time I’ve had this happen while staying in a hotel. One time was after colonoscopy prep.
Has this happened to you? How do you handle it? I’m sure hotel workers have seen it all. I did leave a nice tip for housekeeping.
