My tulips always take too long to die off!

Hi all,

Bought a house with a beautiful garden about three years ago and have become obsessed with growing flowers and veg.

I grow all my own flowers from seed, bulbs, tubers etc in my greenhouse.

Every year my beautiful tulip display is in full swing but delays me from planting out all my summer stuff.

Previously I've had to just pull them up and discard (think beds brimming with tulips, no room to plant anything else).

Question is, can I dig them up before they finish blooming and store them outside in crates to die off?

They would still receive full sun, but obviously no water or nutrients.

Would they come back next year if I planted the bulbs?

I've had great success storing all types of bulbs and tubers after summer, but usually have time to let the plant die off naturally.

Every year at this time I'm frustrated because I have things outgrowing pots in the greenhouse, ready to plant outside but if I was to let my tulips die off in the ground I'd be another 6-8 weeks easily.
