Michael Murphy

Watching the footage back of the half time incident, Michael Murphy makes a beeline of about 70/80 yards for David Clifford which kicks off the brawl.

He has been tackling with a closed fist for years and finally last month it went horribly wrong with that nasty hit on Dylan Casey.

I know in Donegal he's seen as a God, but I'm not sure would everyone agree.

Would like to know what neutrals think of his legacy. A great player but I think he's some way off the list of top top players when being discussed in the future, especially for some of his antics.

Pension Planning / Savings / Investments - Please Help

Looking for some advice on pension planning, investments, savings, etc. There’s so much information out there that it’s hard to know what the smartest option is.

Current situation:

- Already own a home

- Salary is €80k

- Married, planning to have kids in the next few years.

- Wary that may need to move to one salary if having kids and additional costs that go with that.

- Potentially looking to move to a bigger house further down the line, so I also have it in my head that I may need to save for a second deposit eventually

At the moment:

- Paying 7% into my company pension, fully matched by employer

- Also contributing 10% to my company ESPP, which gives a 15% discount on the stock price

I’m currently trying to decide whether I should:

  1. Continue with the ESPP for the next while.

  2. Start/max out AVCs instead because of the tax advantages

From a financial planning perspective, should AVCs generally be prioritised before buying company stock through an ESPP?

I’ve also started looking into ETFs and investing outside of pension/company stock, so interested in hearing whether people think that’s a better route too.

Separately, I currently have about 2 months of emergency savings sitting in a deposit account. I’d like to build that to 3 months minimum. What’s the best place to keep an emergency fund these days?

I have looked at the flowchart too but feel like I'm going around in circles.

Appreciate any advice or experiences people can share.
