The hypocrisy around Shubman Gill discourse needs to be studied.

Back in 2023, the same people were screaming “Ahmedabad flat-track bully” every time Gill scored at ahmedabad. Apparently scoring runs on good batting pitches was only an issue when Gill was doing it.

Now GT starts preparing balanced surfaces where even 180-190 has become a par score, and now the same people are acting like a 180 pitch is some crime against cricket.

So which one is it?

When the pitch was flat:

“Gill only performs on highways.”

When the pitch became tougher:

“GT pitches are ruining batting.”

The reality is they were never judging conditions fairly, they just wanted a reason to discredit Gill either way.

What actually changed is that these pitches exposed a lot of blind sloggers who only look dangerous on absolute roads. Meanwhile Gill is still scoring through timing, placement and proper shot-making instead of mindless swinging.

Funny how nobody complains when other teams roll out absolute roads every other game, but the moment GT makes balanced pitches that actually test batters, the moral policing starts.

Everyone talks about what Pandya went through after leaving GT but hardly anyone talks about what GT fans went through. We gave him unconditional love, respect, support, chants - treated him like one of our own. He had the chance to build a legacy here, to become the face of this franchise for years. Instead, he left overnight for a bigger paycheck, leaving fans feeling ditched and betrayed.

That’s the thing about sports - it’s the ultimate leveler. Some leave for bucks, Some stay to build a legacy.
