Been working on a project called Auto CG recently and a few days ago I finally shipped the MVP publicly 😭

The whole idea behind it was honestly simple:

make captions/subtitles FAST again instead of overloaded and painful

A lot of the tools I tried felt:

• slow
• bloated
• filled with paywalls
• signup-heavy
• weirdly frustrating for something as simple as subtitles 💀

So I built Auto CG around:
upload → captions → export

with a strong focus on:

• speed
• low friction
• browser workflow
• creator-focused UX

The MVP actually got some pretty decent feedback from Reddit which genuinely surprised me 😭🔥

People started:

• testing exports
• comparing workflows
• giving feedback
• asking for links
• suggesting pricing ideas
• discussing BYOK/Groq workflows

Now I’m working on the actual full version properly instead of just patching the MVP together.

Current direction for the real version:

• project workspace system
• uploads
• exports
• cloud sync
• real persistence
• creator workflow infrastructure
• scalable backend architecture

Current stack:

• Cloudflare R2
• Supabase
• ffmpeg
• proper upload systems
• real project management
• actual persistence instead of fake prototype state

• giant paywalls
• fake “free” exports
• slow rendering
• overloaded editors
• too many clicks
• signup walls everywhere 💀

So I built something focused mainly on:

• speed
• simplicity
• low friction
• fast editing workflows

Current workflow is basically:

Upload video -> Generate captions -> Edit -> Export

That’s it 🔥

Current MVP features:

• AI caption generation
• editable subtitles
• timeline-based editing
• browser export
• lightweight UI/workflow
• local processing focused setup

One of the craziest tests so far:

A few things still being worked on:

• caption resizing still has bugs sometimes
• long/very high resolution videos can occasionally fail during browser export because of browser memory limits
• still polishing caption styling/export consistency

The app currently uses BYOK (Bring Your Own Groq API Key) to keep the MVP free and insanely fast without forcing subscriptions everywhere.

Would genuinely love feedback from:

• editors
• short form creators
• clipping channels
• social media people
• anyone who works with subtitles/captions a lot

So I wanted to make something that feels:

fast
simple
clean
creator-focused

Current workflow is basically:

1. Upload video
2. Generate captions (~3 sec rn using Groq)
3. Edit captions
4. Export

That’s it 🔥

It also has:

• editable timeline captions
• subtitle editor
• FFmpeg exporting
• mobile-style modern UI
• super lightweight workflow

Still fixing a few bugs rn:

• export button issue
• edited words not syncing properly yet

But honestly pretty happy with how it’s turning out so far 👀

so do you guys think i should polish it a bit more and add payments all that maybe?

Would genuinely love feedback/suggestions from creators/editors because I’m trying REALLY hard to keep this low friction instead of turning it into another bloated AI editor 💀

I’ve realized I keep trying to build giant complex apps/systems that are cool in theory but way too big to realistically finish solo right now.

So now I’m trying to focus on smaller CRUD-ish apps/tools that:

solve an actually painful problem

save real time

make sense as a product

aren’t just another GPT wrapper with a fancy UI 😭

I’ve been reading a lot about workflow friction/context switching/manual repetitive tasks lately, and it feels like THAT is where many real software opportunities are.

So I’m curious:
