HKU CDS Application Newa
Hi there! I'm new to this community. As an international applicant, I wanted to ask whether anyone domestic or international have received news from the organizing commitee. I saw a few people who have received offers, but I am unaware if these offers are by the committee or by professors.
I'm really new to research as even the top uni in my country, Industry remains king. I have emailed my professors based on my research interests but I only realized that professors had postings whether they were opening slots for the HKU CDS Internships. Out of the 3, only one listed the HKU CDS Internship. Will this hurt my chances of being accepted or matched?
I should say that I have emailed the committee about several questions and inquiries as well as my chosen supervisors but have received no answers. I don't know if this means that my application has received a soft rejection. So if this is a common situation, please do let me know.
As for my application, I am the top 1% in my program out of 200 students in my country's No.1 university with a Culmulative GPA of >3.95 in Information Systems and currently set to graduate early, although I am currently conducting my thesis research in Clustering Federated Learning, as I plan to pursue computational modelling and simulation for my Masters and PhD. I have also submitted my English Proficiency using an IELTS test with an 8.5 Overall Score. I have industry experience as a product research and manager intern in multinational companies and international startups as well as currently being a part of my campuses' lab as a research intern. I am unsure if this is a good research profile for an undergraduate as I have been rejected from other research internships so any feedback is appreciated. I would love to connect with other aspiring researchers and improve my profile.
