Doctor told me I am in remission…but I don’t believe it.

I was diagnosed with UC in 2016 and was told I had a severe case. I was taking the prescribed medication for years until I lost my insurance in 2019. I was completely fine for years (at least I thought I felt okay) and didn’t have any bowel issues, was eating anything/everything and just continued on with life. 2024 comes along and I start having issues again. Constant bowel movements, cramps, always inconsistent, inconvenient pains and movements, everything came back. I went to the doctor and explained that I was diagnosed in 2016 and wanted to be back on my medication (I was insured again finally). The doctor told me I would have to have a colonoscopy again to diagnose me since it had been years. I do a colonoscopy…. results come out that I am in remission and there is no issues. I am stumped. I continue to tell the doctor that there is no possible way I could be in remission the way that I feel…if anything I felt WORSE than when I was diagnosed in 2016. So it’s now 2026 and I am still unmedicated because I am in “remission” and live everyday in complete pain. I am super consistent with a bland/gut healthy diet (UC safe foods) and still can’t seem to get any better. I am struggling and so frustrated. What should I be trying to take for supplements and diet to try and make my life more bearable? Or what should I be asking of my doctor?
