I am off to the alps for ten days in July to ride my bike and watch TDF in person.

I am going to be doing a fair bit of climbing, so can someone with more experience then myself recommend kit to bring.

Specifically I’m thinking about descending from altitude, presumably it will be cold and I will need a jacket and gloves.

I can’t decide if a gilet and some arm warmers will be sufficient or what about a race cape or either an insulated jacket.

I had a horrendous experience descending off Tiede so would like to be prepared.

Any advice would be appreciated.
