Dying ACU gear guide

Hi everyone thought id provide

Some color theory to help other dye stubborn ACU /UCP gear.

Ive switched from rit dye to prochemical acid dye powder its much cheaper and more concentrated although you have to mix it not hard though. And use food grade citric acid.

Unfortunately I also plan to sell premixed kits on my website fury28.com so ratios are close hold. But I will disclose the colors, and theory for my DIY folks to play around with.

Cleaning you can use dawn dish soap or sythropal

To pre-clean gear highly recommend but not necessary.

Adding a drop of dish soap to water helps to even the spread of the dye and make it more even.

Just add boiling, water dye mix, citric acid mix and agitate for 15 to 30 mins. The gear will look darker wet but drys much lighter color.

Grey oddly the secret is a small amount of yellow.

Diga green I used blue spruce and olive drab to get a yellow bluish EMR diga Flora look. Feel free to play around with a ratios you like.

Coyote brown green more than you would think.

I used MochaChino, Carmel and blue spruce to get the

Look its really hard to match true Coyote brown though.

You can add a small amount of black to any of these to flatten the color just be careful as it can overwhelm underlying colors.
