Help me challenge my anxiety around transplant

I should probably start out by saying, I’m not actually someone undergoing a transplant, but my partner is, next month. We finally got a date confirmed, and whilst this is amazing news, I struggle a lot with anxiety around it all.

I believe this stems from when he was diagnosed with CKD last year and was in the ICU unexpectedly for around a month. It was a very scary time for everyone but he pulled through and has now been doing dialysis ever since.

He’s a very strong guy and has a very positive mindset, he’s very young too (26) so his success with the procedure is likely, but I do find myself worrying still.

I think I’ll struggle with being alone whilst he’s in hospital, as it was tough the last time. The main issue was just not knowing really what was going on and not really having anyone else go through this, my worries manifested easily. I have some support from my GP for anxiety, but I thought maybe hearing some reassurance around the process and also positive stories from other people may help? It would be great to be able to refer back to this thread when the time comes, just to make the journey a bit less worrisome.

If there is anyone too, I’d love to hear from partners/relatives of those who have gone through a transplant as well as those who have been through it themselves. How did you manage those fears and worries?
