What is the take on Ultimate skins for Wild Rift so far?
From the get go, I knew Ultimate tier would not be the same tier in base League. It's more like the equivalent to the Sanctum or Transcendent skins (leaning more onto the the Transcendent side, so like the Hall of Shame Ahri and Kai'sa skins), meaning it won't go for 50 bucks; it will range between 250 to 500+ bucks. Already in the game we have legendaries that go up to 50 to 100 bucks due to gachas, like Calligraphia Yasuo or Cryptic Depth Miss Fortune.
Now from the Wild Rift wiki, they say this skin tier is meant to "push the boundaries of development by completely re-imagining the champion, bringing something new and unexpected to the game by including a new model that evolves into different forms, new textures, new splash image, new animations, new visual, new voice over and sounds, as well as additional/bonus content."
From my opinion, only two skins fit this description.
- The Fiend Queller Yone skin aligns somewhat well = an initial good attempt to do so, but with only one form that you change into, is rather lacking
- The Master Yi skin aligns the best so far = three forms to shift into with each having somewhat different animations for certain abilities and mainly, design
- Does the Jinx skin even change form at all?
At the end, I would probably never be able to purchase an Ultimate skin because of how expensive they are. Sure, the quality is phenomenal but unless you have an expendable income, you should never purchase such cosmetics. Additionally something I have noticed is that the Wild Rift team is attempts to handle such tiers slightly better than before: less FOMO for it spans for months, more in-game and within-game items, etc. Regardless, what does r/wildrift think?
