ELI5: The heritability of psychopathic traits.

Hi there all. Context below. Not trying to dump this on you guys but it may help explain how I’m coming at this question from.

In therapy and seeing docs for what I’m finding is C-PTSD. With that comes in my case a hyperawareness of my own behaviors.

I am an abuse survivor of 20 years at the hands of my father and come to find the height of his abuse was likely due to him being told by a clinician about 14 years ago that I had elevated CU traits which he pathologized.

The abuse centered around, if I’m understanding correctly, what was actually my personality forming during development.

In my mid-20’s now and I struggle with many things, in large part of which is coming to understand that I was never fated to be a psycho murderer or a maliciously manipulative person by nature, but rather that my father heard one thing and decided that I was an evil child, and then decided to abuse me for something which, as I understand it, is a personality descriptor, not a definitive trajectory in life, and he probably just didn’t care to understand that part. I just wasn’t great at school,

Obligatory don’t think I’m evil and I am working with a team. Simply wish to understand how this mechanism works through genetics and whatnot based on our current scientific understanding. Thank you :)
