28 days before ILR Eligibility - Does the 5-year qualifying period start from visa start date or date of entry?

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone can help clarify this, as I've seen conflicting information online. I am applying for ILR as a dependent.

My dates are:

  • Visa/leave start date: 1 August 2021
  • Entered the UK: 7 August 2021
  • Visa expires: 1 August 2026

Since I entered just 6 days after my visa started, would my 5-year qualifying period begin on 1 August 2021, meaning I could apply from 4 July 2026 under the 28-day rule? Or does it start from my actual entry date of 7 August 2021?

I'd really appreciate any advice. Thank you!

Revolut: Internship Product Owner (UX) 2027

I'm a Computer Science student at King's College London graduating 2028.

I would be grateful if someone could say what can one expect from the process for this role? How many rounds are there, is it technical at all? And what kind of questions do they tend to ask?

Any tips on how to prep would be appreciated!

ILR SET(O) adult dependant child - how risky is casual uni work? Age 22

Applying for ILR as a dependant child of a Global Talent visa holder (SET(O)), submission July 2026.

My situation:

  • Age 22, entered UK under 18
  • Full-time student at a London university, commuting daily from the family home - no university accommodation
  • Unmarried, no children, no independent household
  • Wholly financially dependent on my father - I hold a supplementary credit card on his account, which he pays in full, and he makes regular transfers for living expenses

Casual work:
I do occasional work through my university's student worker agency (contract for services, not employment). Earnings are modest, well below the personal allowance, zero income tax or National Insurance. I have payslips and the contract document showing it is not an employment relationship. This is disclosed in my declaration.

Evidence bundle includes:
Electoral register (all four family members at same address), Amex statement showing all four family members as cardholders, payslips, bank statements, father's statements showing he pays the Amex, declarations from myself and my father.

My question:
I know adult dependants are scrutinised more heavily than minors. Is my casual university work likely to be a red flag despite full disclosure and zero tax/NI? Has anyone had a similar situation approved or refused?

GCSE English still accepted for ILR?

Applying for ILR next month under Global Talent route. My sister did GCSE English Language at a UK school in 2023 (grade 7, started school here under 18). We were planning to use her certificate for English Language Proof

However the gov.uk/english-language page says GCSEs can't be used and only mentions SELTs/degrees, it used to be there a few days ago.

EL 7.1 (1st May 2025) still shows up in the actual Appendix English Language rules on GOV.UK but now we're unsure.

Has the GCSE english language been removed as part of proof?

SET(O) dependants - do adult children need separate applications?

Hi, I received my ILR in July 2024 on the Global Talent (Tier 1 Exceptional Talent) route.

My wife and children (aged 22 and 19) are eligible to apply for ILR in July 2026 and are applying as my dependents.

Since the children are both over 18, do they each need their own separate SET(O) application, or can they be added as applicants onto my wife's application?

Thanks in advance!

Life in the UK - eVisa proof what ID?

Hi everyone!

I have my Life in the UK test coming up soon and in the email they’ve asked me to bring the e-Visa (view and prove service) as proof of ID.

So do I just take a print out of my Life in the UK account showing the share code?

I just went onto the home office e-visa website and I generated a new share code, but this share code is obviously different to the one on my Life in the UK account.

So I’m confused as to which code is needed for proof on the day of the exam. Do I print out and show both?

Any help would be appreciated!

KCL flexibility if offer is missed (EE and Maths)?

Posting for a friend.

They already achieved A* in A-Level Maths last year. Sitting Further Maths and Physics this year (predicted A*A*).

  • Firm: BEng Electronic Engineering (AA)
  • Insurance: BSc Mathematics (AA)

If they get A*BB overall on results day, how likely is KCL to still accept them for either course?

Non-contextual applicant btw. Any experiences appreciated !!!
