We’ve been playing with the same group for a few weeks now, rotating partners regularly. One thing I’ve noticed is that certain players perform really well against me, but when we end up on the same team they suddenly start making mistakes I rarely see them make otherwise.

At first I thought it might be something in my game, but I generally play consistently and keep good positioning. They’ll even apologize afterwards for having a bad match, then the next day against me they’re suddenly back to playing like Tapia.

Has anyone else experienced this? I’m starting to wonder whether I’m unintentionally putting pressure on my partner, even though I stay positive and mostly focus on encouragement and simple tactical discussions between sets.
