So I am working on a second part to this theory that Part 2 and 3 of HOFAS are mostly or fully a dream/hallucination that Bryce is having while trapped inside the crystal sarcophagus/glass coffin. If you have no idea what I am talking about read the first part and then read this comment link: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bryceriel/s/mph5B3B3YL
I’m still compiling my notes for the full second part of this theory but a huge portion of this theory would hinge on the crystal sarcophagus/glass coffin not being a gate.
Bryce sees that the crystal sarcophagus is made of crystal and she assumes that it is the same as the gates in CC and as the one in the Asteri’s palace. Those gates are all made of Laconian Quartz specifically. Would a gateway in Prythian that leads the world walker/wayfarer back to Midgard need to be made of the same quartz as the gateway in Midgard and vice versa?? But then how would Bryce have gotten to Prythian in the first place???
I have a lot of questions about the specific limitations of the gates and the materials the gates are made out of; do they need to be the same? Is it a specific type of quartz needed to make a gate or will any crystal do? How much crystal is needed a small, medium, or large amount?
What makes crystal a gateway? Does any crystal work as a gateway or does it need to be from specific tuned Quartz specifically Laconian Quartz??
There are multiple times where it’s mentioned that whoever bears Luna’s Horn can travel between worlds and open rifts/portals but no mention of the gates is made. As if the bearer of the horn does not need a gateway to use the horn?? Unless I’ve misunderstood.
Bryce assumes she needs to use the crystal archway in the Asteri’s palace to open that portal to Hel but it’s the horn that does the heavy lifting. Not the gate.
I think Bryce does not need crystal gateways or crystal of any kind to open portals/rifts between worlds, she has the horn and her power and theoretically that should be enough.
Especially, after claiming her full inheritance of power. Yet SJM expects us all to believe that she still needed crystal (aka the glass coffin) to be able to open that portal?
If Bryce does not need crystal to use the horn to open portals or the crystal that the glass coffin is made out of is not the same as the ones on Midgard, then does that make the crystal sarcophagus NOT A GATEWAY?
If it is not a gateway, then Bryce could not have used it to return to Midgard.
Yet the text specifically describes her noting that it’s made of crystal, making sure to open the portal inside of the crystal sarcophagus, and jumping in where she is then described as falling down between worlds.
What makes the coffin a gate?
Baddies, what makes a gate a gate? Does Bryce need a gate? If she doesn’t need a gate why did SJM have her use the crystal sarcophagus as a gate??
