BC PNP Education draw
Congratulations to all the ECEs who got their ITA from BC from the recent draw. Im an ECE who’s currently in the Federal EE pool, but I don’t know if they will ever go back to an education draw. The last draw was Sept and despite the announcements, it’s very silent in this category. That being said Im starting to lose hope with category draws, so the latest BC PNP news and draw was really an unexpected surprise (who would have thought they would open it again after years of being closed). I immediately made a profile and my score now is 122.
Here’s where my concern lies- as a preschool teacher for 3 years, my contract with the school has always been on a yearly basis. This is because our school year starts in September and ends in June, following the usual academic year. After that, I moved to another center and this time I’m not working at a preschool anymore but a daycare. Still, my contract is still for one year, with an end date. They said it’s always like that for all employees for the first year. Now Im starting to think this is the norm for childcare centers or preschool. I am just confused because if this is the norm, how do ECE applicants go about satisfying the full time job offer (with no end date) requirement? Surely, I’m not the only one who’s having to face a contract like this… or is my situation an exception?
I’m stressing out a lot because the last cutoff score was 115. With my current score, I think I have a very good chance of being invited in the next round. I inquired with a consultant who specializes with BC PNP and the quote was $7500 for me, husband, and child. We cannot afford to pay that right now. Our child will also be non-accompanying so even if we find a way to pay that, I don’t think it’s worth it for just me and my husband, and that doesn’t include the federal EE application part.
Any help would be much appreciated, specially if you’re an ECE who have gone through this application. 🙏🏻 Thanks in advance.
