Hello everyone,

You are my last hope for any solution after spending dozens of hours of finding the root cause.

I currently have a new Fritz!Box 4630 (OS: 8.21). I’ve always been very satisfied with previous Fritz!Box devices, but due to a poor landline connection I switched to Starlink (100 Mbps) about two months ago. I would really like to keep the Fritz!Box, as I have 4x FritzRepeater Mesh devices that work very well for me inside and outside area.

Starlink itself works perfectly — I’ve tested it countless times and it consistently delivers 100 Mbps with latency below 25 ms. I’ve been using different tools (PingPlotter, online speed tests, etc.) and with multiple computers.

Starlink is set to bypass mode, so the Fritz!Box is the main router, and the entire home network otherwise works fine.

The issue I’m struggling with is low download speed after Fritz!Box (it jumps between 12–40 Mbps), high latency only on download (200–800ms). Upload latency is always good and around 30 ms. As mentioned, if I connect same cable directly to Starlink, download is stable 100 Mbps and latency stays below 25 ms.

Computer is connected via a 1 Gbit LAN cable directly to the Fritz!Box, while Starlink is connected to the WAN port (1 Gbit). I have disabled all energy-saving modes both on the computers and on the Fritz!Box. I tested with three different computers, 5 different cables as well as over Wi-Fi — the result is always similar (12-40Mbps).

At this point I’m running out of ideas, and the only remaining solution I see is switching to another router manufacturer (e.g., Asus RT-AX82U or similar).

Thank you in advance for any help.

Best regards,

Zdravko
