Friend discount mistake

So I’ve been running my school for about 6 months now. Have a blue belt who’s a close friend of mine there who I’ve helped coach him and have been good friends with him for a while even before I started the school. At first, I tried to help him by letting him run our social media for a while. It worked but he wanted to quit that. I gave him a 50% discount on membership under the spoken agreement he would help me coach new people. But ever since this started, I feel extremely taken advantage of. He only seems to be in it for himself and training for himself which is fine, but I thought the favor would be reciprocated. No help cleaning, coaching, nothing. Just comes in and trains. I’m at a point where I’m going to tell him that he will need to pay full price like everyone else. Any advice from other school owners?

I’m a black belt with almost 20 years of experience in Jiu jitsu. I’m also a brown belt in judo, and have wrestled for most of my life.

What I can’t figure out, why the heck hasn’t BJJ competitions adopted a tech fall rule like wrestling? Honestly it’s embarrassing to watch someone get scored 45 points on in one match. I’ve always thought that they need to implement some type of tech fall, whether it be a 15 point difference or what have you. Would love to hear your thoughts
