Meet Onnen (my Forest King retake for Pillar Chase)
Onnen is an ancient and malevolent spirit that inhabits a forest in ancient Japan. The entity possessed human bodies until it found the body of a young princess who died mysteriously. The spirit also has its own followers who wear golden masks in its honor. Check out his moveset below:
(Followers Raised): Onnen would summon a ghost wearing the mask of one of his followers that would chase players across the map. This ghost would have a short lifespan of 10 to 15 seconds once it started running. This ghost would be faster than Onnen and slightly faster than the survivors, but when it encountered a survivor, it would run towards them to try and catch them. The moment the ghost caught the survivor, it would hold and restrain them while revealing their location to Onnen. This would last a few seconds, causing the ghost to dissipate and giving the survivor time to escape. This ability does not deal damage and serves more to restrain the survivor. (The ghost could release the survivor earlier if the survivor took any damage.)
(Floral Curse): Onnen would fire a blast of dark spiritual energy with cherry blossom petals that would have a long range and deal moderate damage. This blast would pass through walls and could hit multiple people if they were very close together. When this blast hits a survivor, the affected player's screen will be filled with hallucinations of Onnen appearing in the corner of the screen, or even clones of Onnen standing still near the player. These effects will last for a few seconds.
(Emperor's Call): Onnen will let out a shout that grants him a speed buff and causes nearby survivors to experience mild hallucinations that appear around them. These hallucinations will be in the form of blurry shadows that only make whispering noises. However, this ability can also reveal survivors on the map for a limited time, depending on whether the first ability (of the ghost) is active. That is, the ghost needs to be moving around the map for the shout to reveal the survivors' auras; as soon as the ghost disappears, the survivors' auras also disappear.
Its design was inspired by the Yokai Hannya, and in addition to the official Forest King remodel, the princess's dress was based on cherry blossoms. The golden masks were also inspired by the Hannya. His pointed ears were inspired by the Goober skin And the ghosts of the followers would have a humanoid appearance, be gray in color, and be transparent. The princess's real name is Reina, which means wise, beautiful, or graceful in Japanese, and Onnen is also a Japanese term that could be translated as a deep-seated grudge, intense malice, or vengeful hatred. This is literally my first creation related to Pillar Chase, and it wouldn't have been possible without the help of my friend Mr. Salamandra!
