When I was diagnosed with classic Hodgkin lymphoma, I was very strict about avoiding sugary and processed foods and drinks. During chemotherapy, I focused on eating mostly protein and vegetables. However, after completing six cycles of chemo, I started giving in to cravings for sweets and fast food.

My recent PET scan showed a change from Deauville 2 to Deauville 3, and my SUV increased from 2.0 to 2.6. My oncologist said the disease is still stable but needs close monitoring, and we’ll repeat the scan in three months.

I can’t help but feel worried that my recent diet choices might have caused the increase in metabolic activity. For others who’ve gone through this, did you completely cut out sugary foods, or do you still have them occasionally to manage cravings?

I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

I’m curious if this is something I should be worried about. Before my radiation, my PET scan results showed Deauville 2, then I had 23 sessions of Radiotherapy. Three months after, I had my PET scan and it showed a slight increase in activity from SUV 2.0 to SUV 2.6. So, now my scan results showed Deauville 3, and it suggested follow up.

I’m very anxious. Is this something to be worried about? Or is it possible it’s just an inflammation after radiation?
