Is it acceptable to ‘hog’ equipment at the gym?

Was on the chest press machine. There were some keys a bit away from the machine, I just presumed someone had dropped them. I generally do 3 sets of each exercise with short breaks in between, just enough for me to log the set on the Hevy app (I recommend!). This guy, a lot taller than me (a woman) comes over and stands pretty near the machine, expressing irritation through his posture and facial expression. At the point I had one set left so I was almost finished when he APPROACHED ME (whilst I was mid exercise) and said ‘sorry I was actually using this machine. Didn’t you see the keys I’d left there? I just have one set left’ - now if he had been kind and apologetic I might have been like grand I’m done now anyways whatever. But he was so rude and entitled?? I don’t hold back so I told him (firmly but not rudely) that he has no right to hog a machine. The gym was very busy btw.

I spoke to one of the workers who was really helpful and agreed that this isn’t proper gym etiquette. Told me to come to him if it happened again.

What’s proper gym etiquette do you think?

Ugh it was the entitlement of yer man that really frustrated me

edit: typo

Do you think Bernard O'Shea is using AI in his articles?

Ok I don't really know how I ended up reading Bernard O'Shea's articles in the Irish Examiner, but anyways. They seem heavily edited by generative AI. Lots of lists ('Five things I learned when I went clothes shopping' https://www.irishexaminer.com/lifestyle/people/arid-41835905.html ), m dashes, and that particular rhythm associated with ChatGPT. His articles have absolutely no sense of personal voice.

I think using AI for some light editing or brainstorming is fine. But surely journalists for national newspapers should be doing their jobs properly?

Hey all, we moved in to our rental in December. We have a cat we aren't supposed to have, as the lease states no pets. As soon as we moved in, I noticed that the cat was staring at the skirting boards a lot. After that, I noticed scratching in the walls. Figured it must be mice but never saw any physical evidence. Lately it's gotten worse (I'm sure they're breeding) and our cat has caught a few since we took her bell off (she's indoor only).

We are hesitant to call the landlord because 1) we aren't 6 months in the place yet so they still have the right to evict us for no reason and we don't want to cause hassle (even though this isn't our fault) 2) it gets tricky because we would have to hide our cat if someone were to call out (even though she has been very helpful in killing the mice!)

We have tried the 'humane' traps with no luck, we even put cheese in them.

I'm hesitant to use the ones that kill - which I know is a bit silly as I'm happy for my cat to kill them!! And I guess at least the traps wouldn't play with the mice as they die!!

Any ideas please? Better humane traps? Traps with the quickest death?! How to seal up holes in walls (the house is almost 100 years old)?

I know we will probably have to just contact our landlord

As I finish writing this a mouse has just darted across the floor :))
