It’s very interesting to me how a lot of tradesmen say that trades are short handed and need new comers to continue the process, how there aren’t enough apprentices joining the programs, or apprentices aren’t completing the program. Most men that have been in the industry for years/decades are really mean, rude, and hard to work with. I don’t understand how so many of them complain about the trades dying, but don’t treat apprentices like they’re people. They’ll say things like “my foreman treated me like shit. You have to go through the process too.” Why not change the way trades function so people want to stay? And yes, I understand apprentices are working from the bottom up, but being overly mean, rude and difficult doesn’t help the trades keep AND maintain people coming through.
