ADHD video editors, what are your worst dopamine habits?

So, I’m a senior editor who was diagnosed with ADHD very late (mid 30s), and have since figured out that a lot of my editing habits are, let’s say, more unusual than I thought 😅
In fact, some of them seem to be a dopamine chasing fever dream.
I obviously do still get there and have a lot of long term clients, but I’d be SO interested to hear other experiences and what other forms of neuro spice habits are out there!

Here’s two of mine:

- I am almost unable to edit anything completely raw. I need to throw at least one adjustment layer with a sexy LUT on top of my footage (often even in the clip selection phase, but definitely in the rough cut stage) to feel and get into my own edit

- I can’t do actual rough cuts. It’s impossible. My rough cuts always look like a „V3“ of a neurotypical editor. I just can’t stand it, it gives me itchy skin

Tell me your stories!!

***Edit to say: Thanks so very much! I’m absolutely loving this and have now completely abandoned my very pressing edit deadline to mentally hugging (almost) everyone in this thread***

I‘m watching from Germany and am almost through the show (halfway through episode 4), and contrary to a lot of comments on here, I really don’t know what to think, especially regarding the psychological state of the young wives and women, and how this is, to some extent, being exploited on the show.

First of all: Christine wanted to, and did help, these girls out of a highly manipulative and exploitative situation. There is absolutely no question wether they needed to be saved and get away from Sam. I do respect her for very much for this, especially considering what she’s been through herself.

But…
I sat with my mouth open many, many times and couldn’t believe how they went about this, and how they inadvertently may even have further traumatised these girls. Throughout the show, you can see how unbelievably brainwashed they are, how they truly believe Sam to be a prophet and their only way to heaven. The closer the „rescue operation“ came, the more I kept thinking „Do you honestly believe that arresting Sam will make them all suddenly reconsider and be happy to have their freedom?“ These girls were traumatised, had been through years of manipulation and exploitation and situations so horrible, that only believing having these things done to them were their way to heaven kept them from a mental breakdown.
And then, without any psychological help AT ALL, they arrest Sam and act surprised that these poor girls are losing it, kidnapping their sisters, running away and allow them to still be under his influence with constant calls?

I honestly do not understand how they didn’t ever think to involve mental health professionals in the making of this documentary, who in a situation as traumatic as this one, really needed to be there and advising at all times, to avoid these girls getting traumatised even further. It makes me shiver, thinking that this documentary is out there, showing a lot of their faces in situations where they had been subjected to unspeakable brain washing, fawning and crying over their „prophet“ while he sits in between them, in full knowledge of what he had done to them, and Christine constantly throwing herself in center stage, with her almost heroically staged interviews. It’s a very American way of film making with, in my opinion, very little respect for the girls and women being able to live a truly peaceful life afterwards, parading them like this.
