What's up guys! It's your friendly Hoyoverse overthinker Inotia King. As always before we begin I just want to make sure new readers have checked out my older topics which my newer theories are built upon. So for the Genshin ones you can click here. And for the Honkai related ones you can click here.

Well there you have it. My last topic on the subject ended up being a roadmap to what we played, didn't it? This is actually a first for me when it comes to at least this game and I have a theory why but let's get down to brass tacks first.

Right off the bat I once again want to point out how nobody realized that Ramiel was the person we already saw in the Where the Miracle Began trailer. People picked out the fallen angel stuff, her succubus wings, that she's older than she looks and even that she looks like the game's Elysia expy. Some suggested she was a "Succubus Thiren" and may be related to the girl from the trailer. Then, even after the v2.8 livestream the most people agreed on was that she definitely was related to that girl, maybe a descendant like Miyabi is a descendant of Swordmaster. I had checked out topics on the official subreddit, discussion subreddits, even RamielMains and there was only this. However narratively speaking, there'd be no point to a descendant or a sibling or something like that. We needed Lieutenant Colonel Dan for this story and so that was my prediction as soon as they showed her. The thing is, we were getting lore about Lady Sunbringer in v2.5. Then later in the same patch we got lore about Joyous. The breadcrumbs were there. And of course the other reason why we needed these people directly is that Season 3 is setting up to delve deeper into the backstory for this game rather than to continue expanding the story forward like we have so far.

Ok I wanted to get that out of the way because there are other breadcrumbs and they explain why my predictions were so accurate. First, it was apparently mind-blowing for these 100+ year old people to still be around. Are we not Hoyoverse players? You know in Honkai Impact 3rd there's an over 50000 year old running around in a school as the class monitor right? In Genshin there's such a thing as the curse of immortality and several entities have lived very long lives like adepti, witches, gods and dragons. People who are only over 100 is fairly vanilla in this franchise. Adding to this is the fact that we only heard about 100 years in this update. Previously the most we knew was that the Old Capital fell just 10 years before the start of the game. This game's timeline is fairly short to emphasize how dire their situation is. Everything has been destroyed. Eridu was one of the last bastions of hope for humanity and even that fell which has left New Eridu as the final stand before the universe is totally consumed by the Sea of Quanta.

The other side of this prediction was why Remielle picked the codename Ramiel, the fallen angel. At first we only knew Ramiel so I suggested that it was the devs confirming for us that the emissaries the Imaginary Tree sent to this universe had failed to suppress the corruption by the Sea of Quanta, represented in this universe by the Creator. Once it was revealed as just a codename though, it felt like more of a personal choice by Remielle herself. While she believed they had failed, Sunbringer and her followers actually gave up on humanity (at least in part) which is what Roscaelifer is for. Unlike Genshin's Celestia where the floating island is something of a watchtower for Phanes and its shades to surveil their dominion, Roscaelifer is a haven away from the devastation wrought by the sea. Remielle disagrees with this. The reason why is because Sunbringer and the first Void Hunters had invested in a plan that blew up in their faces. Ramiel defied God, Icarus flew too close to the sun and Phaethon failed to control his father's sun chariot and nearly scorched the world with it. Hubris caused the fall of Eridu back then and led to the tarnishing of Carole Arna's name and while Sunbringer was fine with fleeing in defeat, Remielle wasn't. (I have a feeling Joyous didn't take kindly to it either though we'll get to him later on in the story.)

Following v2.8, this gambit seems to be confirmed as their trying to create their own Messenger. This isn't nuanced at all though. In fact, I'd previously gauged the Messenger's power based on exactly what I now think Phaethon's meant to be, a Herrscher. (an actual Herrscher though and not just an equivalent) In the other universes of the Hoyoverse, it's the Imaginary Tree's agents that create some kind of massively destructive being to maintain their control. It's now ironically too early to figure out if the Creator was the first to create theirs in this universe or if Phaethon is the first Messenger which gave the Creator the idea to begin with. It could be that while Herrschers and Emanators were successful in their respectively universes, Zenless has shown that this process isn't guaranteed and what Phaethon turned into is what a failure looks like. This could be a failure of methodology or process maybe even conditions but ultimately it allowed the Creator a further foothold into the universe. For now I'm going to go with Phaethon as the Kiana of this game's lore where they were meant to become the Herrscher of the End and reset the universe so that humanity's abuse of technology which was strengthening the Sea of Quanta's influence on it would be stopped just like in Honkai Impact. The plan failed which led Sunbringer and her followers to believe they could no longer save this universe and so they hid away in Roscaelifer to wait for the end. Eventually, we'll get to a point where Phaethon's control over Pyrois will be substantial enough that they can create branched time, the best they can do given how weak the universe is. They can't pull off a Herrscher of the End reset because the universe would just become a Bubble Universe.

https://preview.redd.it/hnwujcmqep1h1.png?width=1166&format=png&auto=webp&s=195c460c3404d4f48b4b0738bc0045b3a23bacbf

So why did this plan fail? I said it was too early to tell now but we might still have a clue. Remielle explained that there are opposing forces in Phaethon's body and also that touching her Void Hunter Weapon pushed this balance further towards the abyss' favor. Actually that's also what Thaumiel means. Thaumiel is at the top of the Qlipoth Tree of Death in Judaism. It explains humanity's fall, in particular man's decision to distinguish itself from the whole: God. As humanity believes in its individuality, it cannot connect with God and so it suffers. Keter is the opposite of Thaumiel and can be related to sunyata in Buddhism or to be without self, a precursor to nirvana. During this conversation, Remielle hints that she's corrupted as well and that Phaethon had actually fought against the Creator's pull better than she had. We know that the Void Hunter Weapons were created from the Creator and can be related to the Divine Keys in Honkai Impact which are created from the cores of dead Herrschers. We also saw Shunguang being possessed by the Creator through the Qingming Sword. It could be that because the Zenless universe is already on its last legs, the Sea of Quanta's influence or Ether is everywhere. There is no pure being to take on just the Imaginary Tree's power and so even the best Herrscher that Sunbringer could create would already be plagued by corruption. They risked it hoping "light would always triumph over darkness" but they were wrong. The influence by the sea is too strong in this universe so what resulted is that anyone with the potential to become a Herrscher will instead become corrupted into a Messenger and that would only lead the universe to failing as a Bubble Universe even faster.

A secondary purpose for risking this though is my other old theory that they mean to get the Creator on their side just like how Kiana had gotten the Cocoon of Finality on humanity's side in Honkai. The hope was that an individual with the potential to become a Herrscher might grasp the corruption inside of them and use it to influence the Creator instead. This is the "cause" that Remielle was a part of at Helios which led to Phaethon suffering from the "effect." It was their hubris. Whether or not the Creator knew this would be the outcome, it's too early for us to know.

https://preview.redd.it/aocmek9cgp1h1.png?width=1150&format=png&auto=webp&s=ad92fed1254bfd8038cf37bc0c361b5c944d02b9

A minor tweak I do have to make to my predictions though is I was thinking Digimon when the devs revealed Pyrois as the way we'd be able to play Phaethon in the Hollows. I didn't think it would actually be Digimon Frontier instead. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I thought Pyrois would be a summoned creature from Phaethon's eyes. I wasn't counting on them to actually transform into Pyrois. This is actually my own oversight as we'd been shown increments of Phaethon's transformation this whole time. In v2.5 their arms turned yellow when they saved Shunguang. In the Honkai cutscene Meteoric Salvation, Kiana's arms also turned yellow before activating her Herrscher form. This is also why I'm now considering Pyrois to be the base form of Phaethon's Herrscher of the End or something like the Herrscher of the Void and "Eous" will be their final form. Either way though, the Angel of Mercy Remielle did contain it (likely with a more matured version of the power we saw Phaethon use to save Vivian from corruption) and will therefore likely be our next Yixuan Shifu for Season 3.

Before that though, we'll see a "doctor" to stabilize the condition. Unlike Season 2, I'm seeing Remielle as Phaethon's mentor in secret which adds a layer of suspense. The entire time they're up in Roscaelifer, they'll have to undergo the official training (maybe under that Durandal expy, Sigrid) while also finding ways to sneak off to meet with Remielle for real training. Perhaps now that Nicole and the other Cunning Hares besides Billy are up there too, they'll be able to run interference.

https://preview.redd.it/gytg335bip1h1.jpg?width=2340&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1bedfa629b3bea95e5836cdf20826a627a4ac0ef

Cissia is so much more suspicious now. There's only so many "accidental" acts of awesome a person can have. She previously predicted with 100% accuracy exactly why Nicole couldn't make it to the competition. Now she's planting bugs on Void Hunters without them knowing? Sorry girl, you're definitely not just some cute snake girl from the Outer Ring. I also have a feeling Severian's already figured out who she really is. Also-

https://preview.redd.it/v9git3ocip1h1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=33471e0603a75dc3a8ada1cb25c15c162d6a15e0

-isn't it just a little curious why she'd try to dispel Billy's suspicion about who's talking for Mecha Romeul? This isn't the first time she's "accidentally" spoken up in favor of Youkai. During Gilded Carrot Day, she happened to mess up security on the broadcast which allowed Youkai to hack in and take over. Her "incompetence" is just a little too competent when it suits the situation.

She has also now gotten closer to Promeia. Promeia has already been compared to being the next Evelyn. Both of them have a shaded past. And Evelyn was acquainted with Rain who not only made an appearance in an event related to Promeia, she just got another shoutout in this story next to two other potential players, Zhao (related to Promeia) and Nicole who we saw was already in Roscaelifer. Right off the heels of this, we would learn that Cissia has indefinite "leave" from Severian in order to continue tagging along with Phaethon. Curiouser and curiouser.

My "B Team" theory seems to be going strong. The only thing that's concerning is that if Nicole is already up in Roscaelifer and we're about to bring Cissia and Billy there, it could mean they get tied to the Main Story which is not where I want them. Hopefully Cissia won't make it up there because she'll "accidentally" run into trouble that keeps her from traveling with them. Meanwhile, hopefully Nicole's troubles run her right into Remielle or one of her contacts so the Cunning Hares can take point between the two stories and act as our liaisons so Phaethon and Remielle still know what's going on with the TOPS stuff. I just don't want them directly connected to the Main Story which will be about understanding why Sunbringer gave up and then convincing her to take up the cause again. (also the Main Story will focus on new characters and that would undermine the screentime the B Team gets if they're involved) The Main Story should conclude with the climax in v3.5. The B Team's counter TOPS story should conclude in next year's Epilogue with a S-Rank Nicole.

https://preview.redd.it/bgahpwlpjp1h1.png?width=1978&format=png&auto=webp&s=8aa79282e60f0b76ade5f6457ea622f1c29207a6

Season 2's Epilogue was epic and Season 3's looking very interesting:

  • Remielle was always going to be Lieutenant Colonel Dan. There was no reason not to realize this nor question how someone in a Hoyoverse game could live longer than a normal human lifespan.
  • As Lockspring said, Sunbringer mostly gave up on humanity and she and her followers fled into seclusion in Roscaelifer, the Celestia for Zenless. Remielle disagreed with this because it was their hubris at fault so she holds their group accountable.
  • The hubris was actually just Sunbringer doing the usual thing of creating her version of a Herrscher.
  • The problem with doing that in the Zenless universe is that there's too much existing corruption by the Sea of Quanta so the Herrscher became the Creator's Messenger instead.
  • Sunbringer knew this risk but went ahead anyway in the hope that her "Herrscher of the End" would be able to influence the Creator just like Kiana had with the Cocoon of Finality. This didn't work.
  • Pyrois is to Phaethon what Herrscher of the Void was to Kiana. "Eous" or maybe Lucifer will be the Herrscher of the End form.
  • Remielle unlike Yixuan will be Phaethon's mentor in secret as they work behind the scenes with her against Roscaelifer.
  • Cissia more than ever seems to have set things in motion for the counter TOPS side of Season 3's story, separate from the Main Story in Roscaelifer. Members seemingly confirmed for this side are Krampus especially Promeia, Rain and Evelyn and the Cunning Hares.

The Kiana Sisters Arc

https://preview.redd.it/tsynwcamib0h1.png?width=1968&format=png&auto=webp&s=1ef1800937827abdf255f3a0d83e69d0ea6f1cd9

What's up guys! It's your friendly Hoyoverse overthinker Inotia King. As always before we begin I just want to make sure new readers have checked out my older topics which my newer theories are built upon. So for the Genshin ones you can click here. And for the Honkai related ones you can click here.

Zenless already gave us a Kiana expy in the form of Yixuan Shifu. However, even before that there were those who saw the heterochromia of Lady Sunbringer and immediately connected it to Kiana's Void Drifter Battlesuit where she too had heterochromia and in the same configuration as Sunbringer at that. That's now the least of it.

There's not really much to go on yet but right now we already have a couple more Kiana expies in this game. The Season 3 teaser showed us what looks like a Durandal expy for Zenless and also another character with Kiana's white hair who seems to be wearing her Knight Moonbeam Battlesuit.

https://preview.redd.it/31owrtotib0h1.png?width=3564&format=png&auto=webp&s=a198d0e118a960b6c8c15d719dfd0afd3f41ea52

To clarify, in Honkai Impact 3rd Durandal was revealed to be the original Kiana Kaslana for that universe. She was experimented on by Otto Apocalypse and so she lost her memories while her white hair became blonde. The Kiana who would go on to become Herrscher of the End in this timeline was actually a clone of Durandal, K-423. Clones just happen to be something Zenless also presented to us. It was jokingly referred to in our community as the Misaka Sisters Arc for the game and only related to Anby because she's the game's icon character but if we take all of this information together, I think the arc is actually much bigger than we thought.

Soldier 0 wasn't the original after all. She too was a clone, just the best one they'd created. Who was the original then? Since Yixuan released not long after, I had originally believed she might have been the base. She was clearly shown to be a Kiana expy. Now that we've gotten that Season 3 teaser though, I think even Yixuan might be a clone. And her sister Yijiang by extension. They started out as orphans after all and we don't know what happened to their parents so it's possible they just don't remember that they never had any. It could be that Sunbringer is the true base and it was her own intention to create a series of proxies. This wouldn't be unprecedented for agents of the Imaginary Tree. In Genshin, Phanes split itself into the four shining shades. In Star Rail, the Aeon Fuli created emanators by splitting itself into multiple pink-haired girls like March 7th and Cyrene. Even more recently, Yaoshi the Abundance was revealed to act through not only human flesh infected by it but also through branches separated from its main Ambrosial Arbor body, like Evanescia the Panarch Elwood.

But to what end? We know that the last attempt was Helios Academy who attempted to turn Phaethon into some kind of Messenger. My theory following v2.8 is that Phaethon is meant to be the Zenless version of the Herrscher of the End. In Honkai games, there are prerequisites to getting this Herrscher. In Honkai Gakuen for example, Kiana needed to merge together with Sirin and they became the Herrscher of the End. Actually in HI3, that's what K-423 is. The clone of Durandal was infused with Sirin's DNA by Otto Apocalypse with the intention of becoming the perfect Herrscher vessel for Sirin. In fact, that's what the yellow eyes originally represented.

The image I headered this topic with wasn't chosen arbitrarily. Void Drifter's heterochromia wasn't the first time we saw it in Kiana nor was it the point. The reason this Kiana has one yellow eye is because at that point she had been struggling to keep Sirin's genocidal impulses under control. The yellow eyes symbolize the power of the Herrscher of the Void. As such, I actually think Yixuan better represents the Void Drifter outfit than Sunbringer.

The collared short jacket, tassel hanging off the jacket, the white... shirt(?) the black one piece, garters on the legs

Again it's far too early to tell but I'd say Sunbringer had experimented with cloning herself for a long time. The Durandal character from the teaser might be the most stable specimen she'd made but she's stable because she lacks the power of the "Herrscher of the Void" whatever that is in this game. This is why that character has Durandal and Kiana's normal blue eyes. We can compare this clone to something like Trunks from DBZ failing to achieve Super Saiyan 2. His muscular form is very powerful but nowhere near that level and was easily dispatched by Cell. (people still get this reference right?) Afterwards, Sunbringer was able to create unstable clones of varying degrees of strength. You have the girl with the Knight Moonbeam outfit. She is shown with yellow eyes. You have all the Anby clones where most of them were weak and eliminated. Soldier 11 is the most successful Anby clone but is far weaker than her and Anby herself is nowhere near the level of Yixuan. (and likely Yijiang too)

If this is the case then Yixuan is possibly the most successful of these clones given she was not only shown to look like Kiana and have yellow eyes, she was literally introduced in the same way Herrscher of the Void had been with the self-generated energy stairs that let her walk in mid-air.

https://preview.redd.it/mge3hfmyib0h1.png?width=2774&format=png&auto=webp&s=689589f7507c973f5576dd507df52b89855b4b3a

This may be why Yixuan has the power of a Void Hunter without needing a Void Hunter Weapon. It may be why she and her sister were able to manufacture the Qingming Bird and Auric Ink from research into the Qingming Sword, which then only she could use while Yijiang was consumed by the sword.

And that might be moot at this point but who knows. If the devs follow the Gakuen format, maybe Yixuan will be needed to upgrade Phaethon into the "Herrscher of the End" Messenger just like Sirin was needed to combine with Kiana. How much drama might it add if Yixuan has to sacrifice herself to stabilize Pyrois in order for Phaethon to create branched time? But if they go the HI3 route, then Yixuan is just the Herrscher of the Void expy while Phaethon is the true endgame. Of course, in that case there's nothing that says Yixuan, Anby and any other clones couldn't receive upgraded forms to demonstrate other levels of Kiana's development. Maybe Yixuan can get a Herrscher of Flamescion form down the road.

https://preview.redd.it/8v1hcib3nb0h1.png?width=1978&format=png&auto=webp&s=bfbfc2fc19d5554a7b272d484c82931b16ead602

It's still too early to tell if this is what the Zenless devs are going for but maybe Sunbringer started creating clones of herself which eventually got scrapped after creating Soldier 11. So far we've seen a Durandal clone, a clone bearing the Knight Moonbeam Battlesuit, Yixuan and her sister Yijiang (technically the Miasmic Fiend version of Yijiang as well) Soldier 0 Anby, Soldier 11 and all of the Anby clones in between.

Let's review what this might be about:

  • Yixuan and Sunbringer both look like Kiana. But now there's more that share the look too.
  • Sunbringer is the Imaginary Tree's agent for Zenless. Just like other agents, she attempted to create proxies to assist her in controlling the universe.
  • Unlike the other agents, Sunbringer failed to create successful proxies. Yixuan is the furthest along and still not a Messenger in potential.
  • Phaethon then became the next and final attempt at a Herrscher that wasn't a clone which also resulted in failure though this is the ongoing story. Maybe Yixuan will be needed like Sirin was for Kiana in Gakuen.
  • Even as failures, maybe these other Kiana clones could be upgraded one day to demonstrate Kiana's other forms like Herrscher of Flamescion.

Happy Mother's Day?

What's up guys! It's your friendly Hoyoverse overthinker Inotia King. As always before we begin I just want to make sure new readers have checked out my older topics which my newer theories are built upon. So for the Genshin ones you can click here. And for the Honkai related ones you can click here.

Over the last few months as Season 2 was coming to a close, I put out a few theories like this one, this other one, this other other one and also this one. We haven't gotten Part B of this year's Epilogue yet but going off of the livestream and its trailer alone, it seems all of these pieces have been woven together to take us into Season 3.

https://preview.redd.it/3nmq7d5hejxg1.png?width=1978&format=png&auto=webp&s=4b0cfeb6950ab77822ab3c0bade0f1f16021b39e

The big one of course is Ramiel or as she's now revealed, Lieutenant Colonel Remielle Dan who was one of the first Void Hunters. This sets her up nicely to be the Yixuan for Season 3. It's likely after the fall, she's no longer technically a Void Hunter thus placing her in the same position as Yixuan and perfect to be our introduction into the new Wind Attribute just like Yixuan was our introduction into Rupture.

In terms of the lore, this actually expands on what I previously theorized. When it was just Ramiel, it felt like the devs explaining the failure of Eridu's emissaries from the Imaginary Tree to protect the universe from the Creator. However, now Ramiel is just an identity deliberately chosen by Remielle which points instead to her acceptance of their previous failure. It may tie into Phaethon's name as well given Phaethon's myth is also a tale of failure due to hubris and the game's even been bringing up recently the go-to hubris story of Icarus. The v2.8 livestream has now linked Remielle and Roscaelifer to Helios Academy so it could suggest that Carole's involvement was the major gambit the emissaries tried to take which just didn't pay off in the end.

Besides that, there is a significant difference between Ramiel and Remielle despite how it was silly of Remielle to use Ramiel as a cover identity given even the real world angels were often conflated together. Anyway Remielle or Remiel is actually the Angel of Mercy and not a fallen angel like Ramiel. This role could play a part in the revelation that Season 3 will be giving us Pyrois, something summoned by the Proxies that can fight within the Hollows like any other Agent. The boss we'll deal with in v2.8 is likely the untamed Ethereal/Sacrifice form of Pyrois and something created by the Proxies losing control of whatever Creator-born power is inside of their eyes. Remielle then uses her power of light (demonstrated as her form change back to white wings) to shackle Pyrois. Season 3 then reflects Season 2 where either Remielle herself or maybe even Sunbringer will be our next Yixuan Shifu and teach Proxies how to control Pyrois.

Originally I was against going to Roscaelifer in Season 3. Given how it was presented to us in Season 2 by Lockspring and then how elusive it seemed to be just last update given how Velina talked about it, I thought it was meant to be the Zenless version of Celestia. Honestly, it still could be but it's important to remember that this Celestia failed and therefore it stands to reason even their mini-paradise isn't quite so critical to the universe's lore. Adding to it now the possibility that we need Remielle or Sunbringer to control Pyrois, we would actually need to go to Roscaelifer and then it becomes Season 3's Waifei Peninsula.

If this keeps up, we might actually have a roadmap going forward. Season 1 ended with us becoming disciples of Yixuan in order to figure out the enhanced powers of the eye implants and now Season 2 will end with us becoming disciples of Remielle in order to figure out Pyrois. Pyrois is actually the name of one of the horses that pulls the sun chariot, the same one Phaethon fails to steer. The other horses are Phlegon, Aeton and finally Eous and I think we might get upgraded forms of Pyrois with these names. All three names Pyrois, Phlegon and Aeton translate to something along the lines of burning. It could be that after Season 3, that year's Epilogue will upgrade Pyrois into Phlegon and Remielle or Sunbringer might suggest for us to seek out let's say Joyous or Vike to seek other means of taming it. Likewise for Aeton. Eous is where things will change. Unlike the other three horses, Eous is both the horse that pulls the sun chariot but also the name of Helios' sister, the Goddess of Dawn. This could be the turning point to lead the game into Part 2 with a Phaethon now empowered by the emissary-level element of Light.

Side Note 1: There's also the other possibility that these other forms of Pyrois could be iterative upgrades across the timeline resets. All together this game could have five resets leading to the sixth final timeline representing the successor city of Nippur. Therefore in this current timeline we get Pyrois but once this timeline fails, the next iteration would see Phaethon push deeper into uncovering the past which might enhance their abilities so they get Phlegon and then Aeton instead of Pyrois before finally reaching a level of clarity in order to unleash their true powers as Eous.

Side Note 2: Speaking of which, Eous is already taken so what about another name associated with the goddess? Like Lucifer.

Finally Cissia is still involved in this story. I had suggested that her role is definitely not as simple as some girl from the Outer Ring who became a cop. So far all the overt information has suggested this is her only role but we already know she assisted in Youkai's ability to hack into the Gilded Carrot Day feed. She happened to bungle security. She also then happened to predict literally everything that would befall Nicole just in time for her to step in and replace her for the Hollow Champion contest and on Phaethon's team no less. (technically the Cunning Hares team) That is far too coincidental. Her backstory was also proven false. She claimed to be running away from the sweepers until she got her job at NEPS but her own trailer showed she was relaxing and carefree in the Outer Ring and was discovered by Jane. Speaking of which she also happens to be acquainted with Promeia who seems to be the next version of a cleaner like Evelyn was last year. And Evelyn was revealed to be related to Rain, our hacker friend from Season 1's Chapter 3 all the way back in v1.0. Finally and most recently, the MIB event happened to have Rain involved in a commission that Promeia was looking into as well and they both only featured in the same part of that event's story too. In my old theory, I hoped that Season 3 would bring back Evelyn and Rain because if Youkai's on the loose, Rain as a hacker and Evelyn as a cleaner would be useful. Now Promeia would also fit into this role as well and again she just happens to be connected to Cissia. Therefore the other side of Season 3's story would still delve deeper into the backstory of the game where Youkai might betray that TOPS guy who thinks it's working for him. We just heard from Promeia in the livestream to never trust TOPS so it would make sense for Cissia and Youkai to employ her and Evelyn to help with their plan against TOPS. (That said I'm also hoping for this storyline to take place behind the scenes without Phaethon knowing about it. It would add a layer of complexity to this game. Nangong Yu, Anby and Trigger might also be great here and maybe the culmination of this plot could be revealed next year for Gilded Carrot Day.)

https://preview.redd.it/n5lozct7hjxg1.png?width=1978&format=png&auto=webp&s=5761620bf0917d00d3b19894145bf5dab1b33905

Season 2 looks to be going out with a bang and giving us the perfect setup for Season 3 and beyond. Let's review what the devs seem to have given us:

  • Lieutenant Colonel Dan assuming the name "Ramiel" shows ownership of the first Seven Void Hunters' failure against the Creator. Thematically it also ties into the Proxies naming themselves Phaethon and the recent references to Icarus. These are all cases of hubris leading to disaster.
  • Remielle Dan is a reference now not to the fallen angel Ramiel but to the often conflated angel Remiel, the Angel of Mercy. It could be that the boss we saw in the livestream is the untamed version of Pyrois. Remielle might need to use her "Angel of Mercy" powers to contain it so that Phaethon can learn to properly control in throughout Season 3.
  • If this is the case, this would explain why we need to go to Roscaelifer for Season 3. Just like Waifei Peninsula and Yixuan's mentoring was needed to utilize the enhanced eye implant powers for Season 2, Roscaelifer and Remielle will be needed for Pyrois in Season 3.
  • These revelations could be a roadmap for the game going forward. Just like how the city's name Eridu suggests several timeline resets as each city is destroyed, Pyrois is the name of one of the four horses of the sun chariot. These other horses could be used as upgrades for future Seasons or even future timelines.
  • The "Epaphus" side of the story also feels like it's taking shape. As soon as Youkai was revealed, I theorized that the old friends we were supposed to see in Season 3 would include Rain and Evelyn. Rain has now appeared in a small event that related to Promeia and Promeia is acquainted with Cissia who was assisting Youkai during Gilded Carrot Day. Hopefully these characters will drive the storyline against TOPS behind the scenes of Season 3's the main story about learning to control Pyrois.
