Lost my wallet with EAD + Mass ID in it. Kinda panicking rn.

Hey guys,

I lost my wallet today and it had my EAD card, Massachusetts ID, debit cards, everything in it. I’m on F-1 OPT right now and my EAD expires on July 8 anyway, which is making this situation even more confusing.

Thankfully I do have clear pictures of my EAD saved on my phone.

I’m planning to apply for STEM OPT soon, so I’m not sure if I should:

• apply for a replacement EAD now or
• just wait and continue with STEM OPT since this card expires in like 6-7 weeks anyway

Has anyone gone through something similar?

Main things I’m worried about:

• Will STEM OPT filing be an issue without the physical EAD?
• Did your employer ever ask to see the original again?
• How bad is it for RMV/DMV stuff?
• Is replacing it even worth it this close to expiration?

Honestly just stressed because it’s such bad timing. Any advice would help a lot.
