Me and my partner have been living in rented accommodation for the past 14 months.

We are trying to rehome my grandmothers cat, and we are the most suitable place for her. I asked my landlord in writing whether we could get a pet as the Renters Rights Bill outlines, and he has come back saying that I would need to agree to have the carpets professionally cleaned at the end of tenancy.

Are they allowed to ask this?

It was my understanding that the carpets had to be in the same condition as when we started living there, and he couldn't ask us to agree to clean it professionally at end of tenancy as of right now.

How can I reply to him?
