I’m from the south, and mandhi has kind of become my go-to weekend thing mainly because it’s easily available and you get good quantity. I’ve tried quite a few places, and for the longest time Mandhi Manzil was my top pick (plus a few random underrated spots here and there).
Recently tried Kubaba Mandhi in Kozhikode and yes this one was really good.
I got their dynamite mandhi with a plate of beef. The rice was properly flavoured, not just plain or just coloured like in some places. Also not oily or dry, just balanced.
The dynamite chicken had that slight spicy + creamy thing going on but not too much. Chicken was too soft, no dry pieces which is rare honestly.
The beef on the side was also really good. Soft, well cooked, and had proper flavour. Didn’t feel like just an extra add-on everything was blending in perfectly.literal treat for tastebuds
Only thing is, had to wait around 40 mins because of the crowd,but honestly makes sense once you try the food.
Overall felt like a solid place, definitely one of the better mandhi I’ve had so far.
Also Kozhikode food scene is kind of on another level… found a streetstyle crab which basically looks like nuggets from Kozhikode beach .
Ngl planning to do monthly trips just to try more places there 😭 Kozhikode has become my No.1 food spot.
