Searching for a film that perfectly matches the vibe of these two. Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf (1966), and The Swimmer (1968).

I immediately fell in love with both of these movies on my first watch through. But something linked them for me. Both movies made me feel the same emotions and elicited the same response from me. I was equally interested and uncomfortable through both films. Now my goal is to make my own watch trilogy of sorts, by finding the perfect third movie to pair with these two.

Films I thought would fit but did not work for me for one reason or another.

  1. The King of Comedy 1983

  2. After Hours 1985

  3. The Lost Weekend 1945

  4. They Shoot Horses Don't They 1969

  5. Repulsion 1965

  6. White Dog 1982

  7. Threads 1984

  8. Seconds 1966

  9. Woman In the Dunes 1964 (This one was almost perfect. I just wonder if there is something closer to what I'm looking for out there.)

Movies I am going to watch to see if they work.

  1. Sorcerer 1977

  2. White Ribbon 2009

  3. Come and See 1985

Movies I started but did not feel right and did not finish.

  1. The Year of the Locust 1975

Movies recommended by AI.

  1. The Servant 1963

  2. Images 1972

  3. Sleuth 1972 (I have seen the remake and watched the old trailer and I don't think this matches the vibe I am looking for)

  4. Gaslight 1944

  5. Solaris 1972

  6. The Banshees of Inisherin 2022

  7. The Collector 1965

  8. The Spy Who Came in from the Cold 1965
