Why do some great series have an underwhelming anime, while some average series have a great anime?
This anime season has had really contrasting adaptations:
Super hyped and well-selling light novels/mangas/manhwas like Bookworm and TBATE have low-budget and really rushed animes, while an average manga like Wistoria can have a SSS-tier adaptation that is even better than the source (and that is trying its best to overcome the rushed fanfic powercreep plot in the source).
So, what gives? Shouldn't most of the "great" IPs get picked up by the better studios and animators on average, due to having higher sales and fandom even before an anime is made? On the flip side, how does a generic series with meh viewership differentiate themselves in their pitch to these high-tier studios?
