I watched my mum become a full-time caregiver overnight and I want to understand your experience too!
My dad had a heart stent procedure recently, and what I didn't expect was how much it changed my mum's life. She became his primary caregiver almost immediately, navigating medications, appointments, lifestyle changes, his emotions and her own fear with very little guidance from anyone.
Watching her figure it all out day by day, mostly alone, is part of what led me to start working on a project focused on exactly this: what it's actually like to be the caregiver or patient in the weeks and months after a cardiac event.
I'm not here to sell anything. I'm a designer and researcher trying to genuinely understand the experience, the confusion, the trial and error, the moments no one prepares you for, so I can help build something that actually supports people through it.
If you've been a caregiver or patient after a heart attack, stent, bypass, or any cardiac diagnosis, I'd really love to hear your story. Feel free to comment below or send me a DM.
