Post-bunionette surgery problems
I’m looking for feedback from an Orthopaedic Surgeon for pain and swelling 17 months after bunionette surgery.
Age: 45
Sex: female
Weight: 144 pounds
Height: 5’8”
Smoker: no, never
Alcohol: 3-4 drinks a week, spaced out (I’m on accutane, a low dose but I still need to be cautious)
Recreational drugs: no
Country: Canada
Medications: 20mg accutane a day for rosacea acne (I’ve only been on it for six weeks), steroid nasal spray for eustachian tube dysfunction, 50mg daridorexant at night for sleep problems, Botox injections in my head and neck area (for atypical trigeminal neuralgia) every 12 weeks. Aside from these issues, I also have mild endometriosis and fibroids.
Situation: 17 months ago I had bunionette surgery by an orthopaedic surgeon to remove the bump, realign the toe joint, and correct the position of the metatarsal bone. Pins were also added. Since then, I’ve had issues with my baby toe feeling like it was no longer attached to my foot. It drifts to .8 cm away when I’m sitting. When standing it’s only .3 cm away. In the mornings I now have some swelling and pain under the fifth metatarsal head. The pain isn’t extreme but feels like something was injured. It goes away after I put thick socks on. I am careful about my footwear and wear inserts. This pain and swelling issue has been going on for four weeks, however, there has been problems since the surgery.
The x-ray is of the foot a few weeks after surgery. I do have an appointment with my surgeon, but I’ve had this looked at before and he refuses to say anything is wrong. To be honest, I don’t fully trust him anymore. Any input would be great.
