Legal help for EOS retrieval
Has anyone here successfully recovered unpaid salary/final settlement from a UAE startup after the company effectively shut down or claimed there was “no money left”?
I’m dealing with a situation where a former startup employer still owes me a significant amount in unpaid compensation/final settlement. The founders acknowledge the situation and don’t deny the dues, but keep saying the UAE entities were shut down and there’s currently no money. This company was registered with DDA and ADGM too but initially (and currently) Kuwait based.
This is unfortunately the second startup I’ve experienced this with. My current role is also startup-heavy and extremely demanding time-wise, so I realistically don’t have the bandwidth to personally navigate a long legal/process-heavy recovery route alone.
I wanted to ask:
- Did anyone here manage to successfully recover what they were owed?
- Did you go through MOHRE, labour court, ADGM/DIFC, or private legal channels?
- Were there any UAE legal firms/lawyers that genuinely helped and handled most of the process for you? Was it financially worth pursuing?
- Did settlement/repayment plans actually happen in practice?
Would really appreciate hearing from people who’ve gone through this firsthand, especially in startup environments where the company claims insolvency or closure.
