So Redditors keep telling me the reason why I’ve been struggling to land a job is because of my degree. I did my associates at community college and then my bachelors from WGU.

I’ve applied to over 1300 jobs and I’ve had a very low interview rate. I mean only about 7 interviews so far and I’m a U.S. citizen.

I worked for a consulting company for two years as a software engineer while at WGU, so I have some experience.

I’m signed up to start my masters in two weeks but it’s also online and that’s because I don’t want to pigeon hold myself to one area with how bad the economy is.

Is my career over? Is my degree worthless because my last year was at WGU?

It feels like my life is over before I even had a chance and after all the work I’ve done.

I’m asking for those who have a secret clearance. I have 2 YOE as a SWE and I’m about to get a secret clearance for a job in AZ.

The issue is it’s in AZ and I don’t really want to live there. So I’m thinking of taking the clearance and getting another job with it at a better company like Northrop Grumman or Lockheed. Would this be a good idea?

Recently got an offer for a cloud SWE job but if I want to be in a decent area the commute is 2 hours away. I’ve applied to over 1300+ jobs and this is the only decent offer I’ve gotten. What would you do in my situation?

Edit: It’s in Yuma AZ so really not my ideal location. It’s hot, not many white and Asian girls, and not many black ppl so it might be harder for me to make friends. Plus there’s not much to do. I don’t do much now but it’s nice knowing I could do something if I wanted to.

This job is a cloud SWE job and it seems like a decent job but the location is shit. Yuma AZ is basically in the desert and there’s not much to do. I also received another offer for a help desk job in my area but it’s a 30k pay cut from the cloud job so I’ll have to still live at home.

I’ve been out of a SWE job for a year and a half so it’s tempting but I really don’t like the location. I’m thinking of just doing my masters and hope for the best but this job would give me some experience in the cloud which is what I want. Thanks for the advice.
