Co-SLP Concerns
Hello,
I share a school with another SLP. Several teachers report that the SLP is not servicing the children. It’s the end of the year, and some children on her caseload don’t even recognize her name. A staff member asked the other day, “why don’t we have a second SLP to help?” And I told them “we do have another SLP”. We do speedy speech in the hallways… so it just shows how little she services the students.
When she does pull kids, she doesn’t target their goals (ex. pulling an /r/ kid with a language group, only doing language goals, not even addressing r). On top of this, the student will be 2x a week for speedy speech and the SLP just throws all kids into one 30 minute group about once a month.
She is sending home progress reports saying a child is 100% at sentences independently for r, when he cant even produce it at the word level independently. Other case managers have noticed her PRs and have contacted compliance because the percentages she’s putting for students are not reflecting their skills even remotely close. They added a note to their PR to state they aren’t seeing these skills generalized into settings outside of therapy sessions to cover themselves.
It has been brought to admin by teachers and nothing is being done about it.
She also can be extremely rude and yells at me and other staff. I do 80% of the evals, screens, case managing, etc. There’s a lot more to it than I can go into, but I’ll stop there for now.
My question is: have you been in a similar situation before? What did you do about it?
