Testosterone how long does it take to work?
I'm 3 months post hysterectomy so 3 months into surgical menopause. I was already suffering with peri and had been on hrt since June last year.
After the hysterectomy, I changed my hrt so I'm now on 75mg estrogen patch, 100mg oral progesterone (to try to prevent endometriosis re growth) and now tostran testosterone gel, one pump every other day.
I just don't feel like any of the hrt is working. I do feel a little bit better energy wise over the past few weeks but that's about it and that could just be that my body is all healed now. I'm frustrated because it seems like such a guessing game over what works best and I'm annoyed at constantly tweaking it but over months of waiting in between appointments. The testosterone seems to have given me intense bouts of rage. I have zero libido which is why I'm taking it but it's had no positive effect on that at all. If anything its worse. How long do I realistically need to wait to see if it's working or not?
The brain fog is the worst thing, I feel like a shadow of myself. I was always the organised one who remembered everything. I can't even remember song lyrics or recent events let along where I put my phone (top tip - you can ring your phone via the find my phone web portal - my computer doesn't get lost 😂).
I am thinking of going back to my endocrinologist to see if he's better at managing my hrt than my gp or gynaecologist. Does anyone have an opinion of what medical professional is best set up to monitor and supply hrt? I've been recommended a menopause specialist but I would have to pay out of pocket for her and I'm just not convinced she's going to be any better than what I've already got.
