1. Should the independent letters come from “experts” or people from very senior roles (Principal engineers/Directors/VPs) ?

I know a few who are mid-level engineers or researchers. Can i get independent letters from them ?

2. I worked with somebody 6-7 years ago briefly for 4-5 months. Eventually they’ve moved on to other companies. Do they qualify as independent ?

3. What about “international” letter of recommendations. Do they have to be from very senior engineers/researchers ?
