Reactive dog advice?
I’m needing some help and advice for my 2 year old dog. She is very high energy (German/ Australian shepherd mix). We go on walks 4-5 times a week which are usually mostly for sniffing around and giving her bigger space to run and play. We also play in the house daily.
The issue we run into is, when she sees another dog she starts barking and pulling on the leash trying to get to them. I have tried redirection with toys, high reward treats, or just keeping a distance between her and the other dog. She also barks and jumps on windows/ walls when she sees them outside.
It’s gotten to the point where I start to also get upset about it and usually just go back home after something happens.
As stressful as it is for me, ultimately I want to make life for her less stressful and not so scary. She deserves peace and a good life. Is there any advice anyone could give? I understand whatever we do will take time and I’m ready for it, I just need some help.
