Meet our smart snail terrarium

This project started as a simple little habitat for a few garden snails… and slowly turned into a fun father-and-son DIY build mixing nature, electronics and 3D printing.

The terrarium includes: • an automated misting mushroom for humidity control 🍄

• a custom 3D printed top with a giant snail-shaped ventilation grill

• live moss collected outside 🌿

• cat grass and chia seeds growing inside

• real branches for climbing

• coconut shells used as tiny hiding caves 🥥

• a small monitoring screen showing temperature and humidity

• an automated humidity system to keep conditions stable

Most custom parts were designed and printed at home, then assembled together step by step with my son. We wanted something that felt alive, cozy and a little magical instead of just a plastic box.

Watching the snails explore the branches during the mist cycles is honestly super relaxing.

Still improving it over time: next steps are more plants, bioactive substrate and maybe tiny ambient lighting ✨

Any ideas or improvements for our snail paradise? 🐌”

Hi everyone,

I’ve reached a point where I have way too many electronics components (ESP32 boards, modules, wires, sensors, screws, etc.), and honestly… it’s becoming unmanageable.

My current storage kind of works, but it’s no longer enough. I lose a lot of time searching for parts, and sometimes I don’t even remember what I own anymore.

I’ve attached pictures of my drawers so you can see the situation — it’s not terrible, but clearly not efficient anymore.

I really need ideas to improve this.

How do you handle large quantities of components?

What systems do you use (drawers, labels, bins, sorting methods, inventory…)?

If you have photos of your setup or any smart solutions, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks a lot 🙏
