SST (Scaler School of Technology) – Honest review from a current first-year student

SST honest review from a current first-year student

My background:

• JEE Mains: 96.7

• Boards: 91%

I joined SST because I was more interested in coding, maths, and building things than a traditional PCM-heavy first year.

One thing people should know upfront: SST is still new and the first batch hasn’t graduated yet. That is a real risk, and anyone considering it should think about that carefully.

My experience so far:

• Lots of project work

• Hackathons and building culture

• More focus on software/product skills early on compared to many traditional colleges

Things I like:

• Build-focused environment

• Coding exposure from early semesters

• Students are encouraged to make things, not just study theory

Things I think you should consider before joining:

• New institution → less established brand value

• Not ideal if you want a very traditional college life

• You need to be proactive; this isn’t a place where you can just attend lectures and coast

Who might like SST:

• Students interested in software engineering / startups / building products

Who might not:

• People mainly optimizing for established college reputation or conventional college experience

I’m a current student, so this is just my personal experience so far. Happy to answer questions honestly in comments.
