My previous doctor put me on 3600 mg for a torn meniscus. It didn't help, but he told me to stay on it. About 9 years ago. Fast forward to about 5 weeks ago. I lost a bottle somewhere in my house and after two days could hardly speak coherently and just felt very wrong. Almost went to ER. A very kind advice nurse and on call doctor helped me get my prescription. I'm tapering, am now down to 2100 mg. It sucks a lot. My sleep is bad, my temper is short. I never want to take this again. I know it helps some people, but not me in this case. And yes, I learned a lot about doing my own research and not blindly trusting a doctor.
