Bricked BIOS - Lenovo Legion Go S
Hi everyone,
I'm posting this as a last resort because I've managed to get myself into a really bad situation with my Lenovo Legion Go.
It started when I was experimenting with a custom BIOS. Long story short, I wasn't careful enough and ended up bricking the device.
At first, I tried the USB BIOS recovery procedure multiple times without success. Much later, I randomly checked the log file that was being created on the USB drive and discovered that recovery was actually starting, but I had provided the wrong BIOS file, so the recovery process failed.
At that point, I decided to try programming the BIOS chip directly with a hardware programmer.
Unfortunately, I have very limited experience with BIOS programming. I relied heavily on AI guidance, and it suggested incorrect settings when reading the chip. Because of that, I only read and saved the first 16 MB of data. I mistakenly believed I had a complete backup and continued experimenting.
Only later did I realize that the BIOS chip is actually 32 MB, meaning my backup is incomplete and effectively useless for a full restoration.
So now I'm in the worst possible situation:
- Lenovo Legion Go
- BIOS chip has been erased/corrupted
- No valid full backup exists
- USB recovery no longer helps
- I have a hardware programmer available
- Device is currently sitting with what is essentially a blank BIOS waiting to be programmed
My questions are:
- Does anyone know the correct recovery procedure from this state?
- Does anyone have experience rebuilding a Legion Go BIOS image?
- Would someone be willing to share a raw 32 MB BIOS dump from a working Legion Go?
- Is it possible to combine Lenovo BIOS update files with data from another dump to restore the device?
- Are there any Legion Go-specific security mechanisms (serial number, UUID, keys, etc.) I should be aware of before flashing another machine's dump?
I fully understand this situation is my own fault. I'm just trying to figure out whether the device is still recoverable or if I have created an expensive paperweight.
Any advice from people experienced with SPI programming, UEFI/AMI BIOS repair, or Legion Go firmware would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
