Scraped the lower door of my kylaq today. How bad is it, and what’s the best way to fix this?
Hey everyone,
Had a bit of a mishap today and scraped the lower driver-side door against a pillar/high curb. It’s a black car, and the damage runs right along the lower section.
Here is what it looks like (attached image):
• The textured plastic cladding: There's a long, prominent white scrape running right across the top edge of the plastic.
• The door paint: There are some light scratches further up, and a bit of scraping right at the very bottom edge of the metal door panel where it meets the cladding.
I’m trying to figure out my options before heading to a service center or a detailer.
Can the white marks on the textured plastic cladding be cleaned off (is it likely paint transfer), or does the whole plastic panel need to be replaced?
For the black paint right above it, should I try DIY buffing it out with something like 3M, or does it look deep enough to require a professional repaint? (Fingernail doesn't deeply catch on the higher faint scratches, but the bottom edge feels a bit rough).
Would appreciate any advice, rough cost estimates if you've dealt with similar damage, or product recommendations. Thanks in
