I see folks asking daily asking for advice with their swings.. an overwhelming majority of times it’s lack of hip drive / no load / all-arm-swinging. I was the same just recently (and I personally have a ton of area to improve upon, too).
Coming from a big, semi-clumsy fellas, who swung ALL arms and consistently hit 200ft pop outs.. to now driving the ball hard nearly every AB… i can say the biggest change was engaging hips in the swing.
My favorite drills:
- step-thru drill
- load coil tee work
What helps mentally at the plate / during BP:
- slight inward tilt to back foot.. at least for me, this “pre-loads” my hips.. learned it from Tyler Ervine. Best hitter I’ve been in person.
- smooth/quick hands.. the less tense the upper half of my body is the better the hip drive.
Any other tips from yall @ r/slowpitch?
