Help! 8 Year Struggle to Find a Diagnosis
I am 26 year old female that has been struggling with evolving symptoms over the past ~8 years. The primary symptom is a very specific stomach ache (involves bloating and a specific but hard to describe discomfort). It used to come for a few days - usually starting in the afternoon, worsening over night, and then resolving the next morning - and then would leave and not return for a month or more. Lately, it’s been much more frequent. I sometimes get it at night and it feels like it resolves in the morning when I eat, other times it just comes and goes randomly. Other symptoms I sporadically experience include nausea and dizziness, random chest/torso pain (I’ve had a normal EKG to rule out major heart issues), and sporadic nerve pain. I also have insomnia that comes in waves. My symptoms seem to have hormonal link, but it’s hard to observe for sure given that I have been on birth control for the past many years that have suppressed my period, which makes it hard to track my hormones. I had a laparoscopy for endometriosis and they did not find any endometrial tissue but found some unexplained scarring on my appendix/intestines, I have been tested for h pylori (negative), and I am also negative for acute intermittent porphyria.
