Hey LaunchMyStartup,

Just launched the first version of Square Up.

The pain: Asking friends or roommates to pay you back for drinks, utilities, group meals, etc. always turns into an awkward, cringey back-and-forth.

What it does:
You fill in the details and it sends a neutral nudge from a third party that includes a small reward for the recipient (like a 10% coffee discount). The goal is to make the request feel more like a casual gift instead of a nag.

Current stage:

  • Very early MVP built on Replit
  • Public form with live iMessage-style preview
  • Tone selector (Casual, Polite, Direct)
  • Basic admin dashboard for tracking

I'm not actually sending real text messages yet. This version is for testing the user flow, message quality, and reward idea.

Would love honest feedback:

  • Does the reward + third-party approach make it less awkward?
  • How do the message tones feel?
  • What’s missing or sucks right now?

All feedback is welcome — good or bad.

Thanks!

I hate the awkward “hey can you pay me back for those drinks last Friday” dance, so I built this.

Square Up lets you enter the details and it sends a nudge from a third party with a small reward for the recipient (like a 10% coffee discount). The idea is to make the request feel less like a nag and more like “here’s a little something.”

It’s a very bare-bones Replit build right now. No fancy mobile app yet, just a simple public form + admin dashboard.

I won’t actually send any texts right now this is purely for testing the flow, message preview, and seeing how the reward + tone lands.

Roast it. Tell me what sucks, what feels off, if the reward idea is stupid, if the tone is cringe, whatever.

Be brutal. I can take it.

I used to dread asking people to pay me back for utilities or drinks I covered — the awkward back-and-forth always sucked.

I built Square Up, a simple tool that sends the nudge from a third party and includes a small reward for them (like a 10% coffee discount). It makes it feel more like a casual gift than a nag.

Early testing phase if you have a small “you owe me” situation, feel free to try it link will be in the comments.

Would love honest feedback on how the reward and tone feel on the other end. Does it actually make it easier?
